Crystallizing membrane proteins in Lipidic Cubic Phase (in-meso)
The Lipidic Cubic Phase (LCP) or in-meso technique for crystallizing membrane proteins has revolutionised structural studies of difficult targets such as GPCRs.
In Lipidic Cubic Phase (LCP), mosquito® LCP provides the combination of four important factors:
- reduction of sample size down to nanolitre volumes
- speed (about 4 minutes to complete a single 96-well LCP plate)
- accuracy and repeatability
- humidity control of the dispensing environment
Low volume dispensing
mosquito LCP allows you to dispense Lipidic Cubic Phase (LCP) volumes as low as 25 nL, while automated calibration of syringe and pipette positioning ensures precise drop-on-drop placement.
mosquito LCP provided a reliable platform for our CRF1 LCP crystallisation, deploying reproducible low volume boli at speed, and ultimately yielding a large sample set of CRF1 crystals for subsequent diffraction analysis.

The acquisition of the mosquito-LCP contributed significantly to the quality of our services. EMBL’s decision to integrate TTP Labtech equipments underlines their outstanding performance - a driving force in the progress of science.
