Lab2Lab
Any sample, any lab, anywhere
The Lab2Lab automated sample transport and distribution system moves microtubes securely between multiple locations and is easy to adapt to any laboratory set-up. Lab2Lab reduces the need for additional instrumentation by increasing the efficiency of existing equipment use and increasing the speed of data generation overall.
Lab2Lab automated sample transport offers:
- Fast, on-demand supply of sample microtubes to any location within your facility
- Optimisation of the use of expensive analytical equipment
- User friendly software which is simple to integrate
- An adaptable bespoke solution that is easy to install into any facility
- Flexibility with the ability to expand the system when necessary
In its simplest configuration, Lab2Lab comprises a sender unit, a receiver unit, a standalone router, an optional buffer unit and the flexible delivery tubing which connects the system together. Lab2Lab is easy to expand as each router can connect up to 30 sender/receiver units and multiple routers can be used per system.
Sender unit:
The Sender unit can be sited in any laboratory. When a sample is ready for analysis, the scientist scans the barcode and enters details on their PC. The microtube is then sent pneumatically to the router. If a scientist wishes to submit multiple samples for analysis, rather than submit them individually from a sender unit, they can use a Bulk Sender. This can take up to 96 microtubes from an SBS standard rack.
Router:
The Router manages the flow of sample microtubes. When each sample is received, its barcode is read, and it is either transferred to an available instrument, to the buffer unit, or to a manual collection point or waste if no further sample analysis is required. Each router can connect up to 30 sender/receiver units and multiple routers can be linked together.
Buffer unit:
The buffer unit provides a queuing station so samples can be scheduled to visit more than one instrument. It also allows a full rack of 96 microtubes to be held for overnight analysis.
Receiver unit:
The receiver unit transfers the microtube directly to the autosampler of an analytical instrument. Once the sample has been processed, the results are sent to the network and the microtube returned to the router.
Lab2Lab has been developed from the same pneumatic technology that has been successfully used in its comPOUND® and comPILER® sample storage systems, providing a reliable, secure and rapid means of transporting samples around research facilities.
The Lab2Lab pneumatic transport system is an adaptable bespoke solution which can be used in any research facility where rapid sample analysis is required.
Benefits of Lab2Lab include:
- more efficient intrument utilisation
- increased speed of data generation
- simple to install in existing laboratories
- easy to expand the system as required
