mosquito's X,Y,Z positioning is precise to within 0.1mm enabling the micropipettes to enter a 1536-well plate accurately or access microplate sub-wells with ease. It will reliably touch off against the bottom of the plate for dry dispenses, or to a defined level in the well for wet dispenses. 

Typical CVs in 384-well plates are around 8% at 50 nanoliters and are better than this for volumes greater than 200 nanoliters, for example around 3%-4% at 400 nanoliters and 4%-7% at 100 nanoliters. Similar results have been achieved in 1536-well plates.

viscosity
mosquito's micropipettes can handle solvents, solutions and suspensions over a wide range of viscosities. There is no need to change the head for differing applications, and the volume range can be programmed in 1nL increments.

mosquito® pipetting accuracy is within 10% throughout the entire volume range. The results for 40% PEG 20,000 were as follows:

mosquito® is used successfully to pipette samples into wells pre-filled with reagents, where CVs are similar or better to those quoted above. 

dispensing cells
Small inoculations of cells can be performed with mosquito for population studies using instruments such as the Acumen Explorer microplate cytometer. Inoculation with mosquito® produced populations of cells with similar survival rates to hand-pipetted cells and with higher repeatability.
