Overview
Mirrorball is a NEW laser scanning microplate cytometer that has been designed with the needs of the antibody discovery industry in mind.
In order to be able to perform high-throughput, efficient and robust assays for antibody discovery there is a requirement for an instrument that:
- is sensitive enough to be able to detect low abundance antigens such as cell surface proteins
- is able to undertake the mix-and-read assay format that has been popularised by the discontinued FMAT® system
- can perform these assays in microplate format
Until now laser scanning cytometers have not been able to provide the necessary sensitivity but Mirrorball has addressed these issues and now offers a highly sensitive, fluorescence microplate cytometer for all your antibody screening needs.
Mirrorball offers a unique set of enabling features:
High sensitivity
This enables detection of proteins that are only found at low abundance and makes this instrument perfectly suited to mix-and-read assays for hybridoma screening and cell-surface receptor expression.
Simultaneous laser scanning
This results in superior multiplexing and analytical capabilities that will enable more robust and rapid data generation.
Label-free detection
This runs concurrently with fluorescence measurements resulting in improved object recognition and fewer false negatives based on individual object count.
Minimal autofluorescence
Proprietary low loss optics and red 640 nm laser excitation result in low autofluorescence, which leads to high signal to noise ratio and guarantees robust data generation.
Mirrorball guarantees:
- Improved assay performance for antibody discovery
- Enhanced detection sensitivity for low abundance antigens
- Comparable fluorescence detection to the ABI 8200 Cellular Detection system (FMAT®)
- Superior multiplexing through provision of dual laser excitation and multiple detection channels
- Minimal reworking of existing protocols
- Label-free detection for fewer false negatives based on bead and cell count
