| Tubes from comPOUND arrive at comPILER's high
speed arrayer, via the unique air transport system, and are arranged in a
customer-specified layout in 96 position racks. From the arrayer the tubes
enter a defrosting chamber for controlled thawing and drying, before
centrifuging the tube contents ready for extraction. The tubes
then enter a decapper, followed by inert gas purging to protect the contents during liquid extraction. The tubes are then ready for
presentation to the liquid handler. After reformatting the tubes are gas
purged and recapped before returning to the comPOUND store.
Each comPILER processing station is self-contained, connected by a modular track system, with each of the processing stations operating autonomously. This autonomy allows
comPILER to be configured to suit the client's application, space and budget.
Tubes are tracked using barcode readers as they move around the
system.
Additional comPOUND storage modules can easily be added to an existing
system, increasing sample throughputs. One
comPILER can be connected to up to 12 comPOUND stores, facilitating a library as large as 1,200,000 tubes.
The throughput of such a system is 20,000 tubes from store, through
processing, and back to store again in only 8 hours. No operator
intervention is required, so the system can be run overnight.
